Files & Backups
Download your world from PebbleHost and move it
Download your PebbleHost server from its File Manager or over SFTP, then upload the files to your new server and check your world loads.
Moving from PebbleHost means downloading your server's files from PebbleHost's game panel, then uploading them to your server here. Its File Manager zips whatever you tick, and SFTP handles big servers. PebbleHost steps checked against PebbleHost's help center in October 2026. Move your server from another host has more on the upload side.
Before you start
- Log in to the game panel at
panel.pebblehost.com. It has its own login, separate from the billing panel, and its details came by email (for Minecraft servers, Minecraft Server Order Details). - Open your server and select Stop at the top right.
- Keep the PebbleHost service active until you're done. PebbleHost's help says a suspended service can't be reached over FTP.
- Note the version it runs and, on Minecraft, its software (such as Paper or Fabric).
- Take a backup of your server here in Backups. Uploaded and extracted files can replace files with the same name, and the backup undoes that: How to create and restore backups.
Download from PebbleHost
Option 1: the File Manager
- Select File Manager in the server's sidebar. Your server's files, such as
worldandplugins, are listed at the top level. - Tick the files and folders you want, right-click one of them and choose Download. PebbleHost zips the selection into one file.
- For a single file or folder, click its ... button and choose Download.
Option 2: SFTP, for big servers
- In the File Manager, select SFTP Details at the top of the page.
- Copy the Server Address and Username. The username is your email address followed by a few extra characters: copy all of it. The password is your game panel password.
- Connect with FileZilla or WinSCP and drag the files to your computer. Connect over SFTP with FileZilla or WinSCP walks through both, using PebbleHost's details in place of ours.
The Server Address holds the host and port in one value, such as sftp://<node>.pebblehost.com:<port>. PebbleHost's help has you paste all of it into FileZilla's Host box. If an app won't take it, put the part between sftp:// and the colon in the host box and the number after the colon in the port box. Read the port from your own SFTP Details, not from an example.
Option 3: a backup
Create one under Advanced > Backups with Create Manual Backup. On a Premium plan, Request Download Link on the backup gives you a .tgz file. PebbleHost's export links last 48 hours. On a Budget plan, PebbleHost asks you to open a ticket for a download.
Match the version here
On Minecraft, set the same software and version in the JAR Manager tab (under More) before you upload: Change Minecraft server version or loader. If it ran Spigot, pick Paper: there's no Spigot option here, and Paper runs Spigot plugins.
Don't load a Minecraft world on an older version than it last ran on. That can corrupt the save.
Upload the files here
-
Stop your server here from the Console.
-
Up to 100 MB: in the File Manager, select Upload and pick the ZIP or
.tgz, then select it and choose Extract here. Delete the archive once its files are out. -
Over 100 MB: unpack the download on your computer and drag the files across over SFTP. Your server's login is behind the SFTP button in the File Manager. Or send the archive itself over SFTP and use Extract here on it, as long as your storage has room for the archive and its files together until you delete the archive.
-
If the files land inside a folder, select each item, choose Move to…, enter
/as the Destination folder and press Move. A move onto a name already at the top level is refused with Couldn't move this, so delete or rename that one first.
A renamed Minecraft world
PebbleHost's Settings page holds the name of the world folder your server loads. If it isn't world, upload that folder, plus any _nether and _the_end folders that share its name, then open the Config Editor tab here. Set World folder to the same name and click Save changes.
Check it works
- Start the server. On Minecraft,
Done (…s)!in the Console means it's up. - Join and check your builds, inventories and plugin or mod data.
- Share the new address from Server address in the left rail: Join your Minecraft server (and fix errors).
Cancel PebbleHost last
Cancel only after your players have joined the new server and the world checks out. In PebbleHost's billing panel at billing.pebblehost.com, choose the service and click the red Cancel button. The form asks for a cancellation type:
- Immediate ends the service by the end of the day.
- End of the billing period ends it on the next due date, instead of creating a renewal invoice.
Fill in the short feedback form and press Submit Cancellation.
If something's missing
- SFTP says the host doesn't exist - your app may want the host without
sftp://and the port. Split them as in the tip above. - SFTP rejects the login - copy the whole Username, including the characters after your email address, and use your game panel password.
- "… is over the 100 MB limit" - send that file over SFTP instead.
- A fresh world loads instead of yours - World folder doesn't match the world's folder name, or the files are still inside a subfolder.
Frequently asked questions
Does downloading change anything on PebbleHost?
No. Downloading leaves your files in place, and the PebbleHost server stays as it is until you cancel it.
Can I move a server that isn't Minecraft?
Yes. Download the saves and configs the same way and upload them to the matching game here. Move your server from another host says what to bring.
What if PebbleHost has already suspended or deleted my server?
A suspended service keeps its files, but you can't reach it until the invoice is paid. PebbleHost's help says it usually keeps a copy of a deleted server for a while, with no guarantee, so contact PebbleHost first. If your files are already on your PC, upload them as above.
Can I bring a MySQL database from PebbleHost?
Plans here don't include MySQL databases, so check whether the plugin can store its data in files instead. To keep a copy anyway, open MySQL Databases in PebbleHost's sidebar, click Export Database and choose Export Database to SQL.
