InsaneCraft is a Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge modpack, the official pack from the InsaneCraft series played by SSundee, Sigils, Henwy, BiffleWiffle and JeromeASF. Its CurseForge page lists 250 mods and sets one challenge: obtain the Infinity Stones and become Thanos. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, which builds it from the pack's mod list or, if you pick v1.3.0, downloads the pack's own server zip.
Checked against InsaneCraft v1.3.1.1 (built from its mod list) and v1.3.0 (its server pack) on Minecraft 1.12.2 and Forge 14.23.5.2860, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2860. The v1.3.0 server zip includes
forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2860.jar, and the panel launches it. For v1.3.1.1 the panel installs the Forge build the pack'smanifest.jsonnames, the same 14.23.5.2860. For Minecraft 1.12.2 the panel runs Java 8 on its own. - Memory. The pack page lists 6 GB (low), 8 GB (better) and 16 GB (high) as recommended RAM. It does not say whether that is for playing or for a server, and the v1.3.0 server zip holds 231 mod jars, so treat it as a guide and watch the RAM card. Your plan sets the RAM, so see how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans.
- Disk space. The v1.3.0 server zip is about 759 MB and unpacks to about 836 MB. The zip sits on your plan's disk while it unpacks, so you need room for both.
- The same pack version for players. Newest that fits your server installs v1.3.1.1, the final file. The page says v1.3.1 is the last update to the pack, and the files for v1.3.1 and v1.3.1.1 ship without a server pack, so the panel builds the server from the pack's mod list. Players need the same version as the server in the CurseForge app.
Install the server files
Installing a modpack reinstalls the server and replaces the current world, so use a new server or one you can wipe.
In Modpacks, use the CurseForge chip and search for InsaneCraft. Check the row for InsaneCraft Modpack by SparkUniverse_, because the results also include lite versions and fan-made packs. The window names Forge and Minecraft 1.12.2. The rest of the window (the backup and the EULA tick) is in Install a CurseForge modpack.
The mods to download, or the v1.3.0 server pack
v1.3.1.1 has no server pack, so the window says the server is built from the pack's mod list. It names two mods that CurseForge only hands out from its own site, Ghost's Explosives and Corail Tombstone, with a place to drop them in. Modpack mods to download from CurseForge covers that step. When this guide was checked, the install added 224 mods, turned none off, and the server started with Install without them ticked.
To use the v1.3.0 server pack instead, open the version dropdown and pick InsaneCraft v1.3.0. Players then need v1.3.0.
First start
The pack carries no eula.txt, so unless you accepted the EULA in the install popup or earlier on this server, the panel opens Accept the Minecraft EULA first.
The v1.3.0 server pack ships its own server.properties, and it sets allow-flight=false. Draconic Evolution is among the pack's mods. The Allow flight switch stops the anti-cheat kicking players who fly, which most flight mods need, so open Config Editor, turn it on under Gameplay, press Save changes and restart.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run the same version the server runs, v1.3.1.1 unless you picked another, on Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
