Hexxit Updated Minecraft server setup

Install the Hexxit Updated modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2 from the Modpacks tab and check which version the server pack installs.

Updated 4 min read

Hexxit Updated is an unofficial update of the Hexxit modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge. Its author describes cherry-picked mods that add dimensions with bosses and structures, and dungeon mods that fill the Overworld. This guide installs it on your server from the Modpacks tab.

Checked on Minecraft 1.12.2 (Forge), October 2026, installing with the default Newest that fits your server choice, which installed the newest download, Final Hotfix 3, from its mod list with Forge 14.23.5.2860.

What the pack includes

The page names the dungeon mods Recurrent Complex, Doomlike Dungeons and Chocolate Quest Repoured, and the dimension mods Atum, the Betweenlands, the Aether, AbyssalCraft and the Erebus. Diamonds are more common, so players can gear up for exploration sooner.

What it needs

  • RAM. The author says the minimum RAM allocation is 2.5 GB. A promotional line on the page recommends at least 3 GB for a server with four players. Its system requirements box lists 4 GB of RAM. Check the plans on Minecraft hosting and choose one with at least 4 GB for headroom.
  • Java 8. The panel runs Minecraft 1.12.2 on Java 8 by itself, so you do not choose it.
  • The pack on every player's computer. Players install Hexxit Updated from its CurseForge page.

Which version installs

The newest download is Final Hotfix 3 (September 2025), and the page lists one dedicated server pack, uploaded in May 2023. Newest that fits your server takes Final Hotfix 3. It has no server pack, so the window says the server is built from the pack's mod list, and it asks you to download one mod from CurseForge's own site, Dungeon Tactics. When this guide was checked, the install added 87 mods, turned none off, and the server started with Install without them ticked. The installed pack card in the Modpacks tab shows the pack name, the Minecraft version and the loader, but not the file version. If the version matters, pick the file yourself in the install window (see Install a different file below), and ask players to use the same one.

Install it on your server

Installing a modpack reinstalls the whole server, so use a new server or one you can wipe.

On the Modpacks tab, choose the CurseForge chip, search for Hexxit Updated and find the row Hexxit Updated by Cricrane. A pack called Hexxit Reborn on Modrinth is a different one. Click Install: the window titled Install Hexxit Updated? should read Forge and Minecraft 1.12.2. To choose a particular file, follow Install a different file below. If the window says some mods need you to download them first, follow Modpack mods to download from CurseForge. The backup, the EULA box and the rest of the window are covered in Install a CurseForge modpack.

Install a different file

The version dropdown near the top of the install window reads Newest that fits your server. It appears only where the updated installer is on, it lists release files only while the dropdown beside it reads Stable, the default, and it lists the pack's files whatever Minecraft version your server runs now. Press Install and pick the file in it. When this guide was checked, it listed four 1.12.2 files: Hexxit Updated-Final Hotfix 3.zip, then Hexxit Updated (Final) 1.0.2, 1.0.1 and 1.0.0.
