DeceasedCraft - Urban Zombie Apocalypse is a Forge modpack where you loot and shoot your way through cities overrun by the infected, build up a tech tree and work towards a radioactive Wasteland. This guide installs it on your server from the Modpacks tab and covers the one server setting the author asks for.
Checked against DeceasedCraft_Beta-5.10.17 on Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge), October 2026.
What to know before you install
- The newest builds are an open beta. The pack's page says the 5.10 beta cannot be completed, because the Wasteland and Abyss districts are missing. The author points players who want a fuller playthrough to version 5.5.5, which runs on Minecraft 1.18.2.
- RAM. For a server, the page gives 8 GB as the minimum and 10 GB or more as the recommendation. Check the plans on Minecraft hosting and pick one with at least 10 GB.
- Java. The pack's wiki asks for Java 17 and warns that Java 22 will not work. The panel picks Java from the Minecraft version, so you do not set it.
- Players need the pack too. They install DeceasedCraft from its CurseForge page. The author says not to use the server pack as a game install.
Install it on your server
Installing a modpack reinstalls the whole server, so use a new server or one you can wipe.
- Open the Backups tab and click Create backup.
- Open the Modpacks tab, under Content in the left rail. Above the search box, choose the CurseForge chip.
- Search for
DeceasedCraftand find the row DeceasedCraft - Urban Zombie Apocalypse by TqLxQuanZ. The row shows the Minecraft version and loader badges. - Click Install. A window titled Install DeceasedCraft - Urban Zombie Apocalypse? opens and names the loader and Minecraft version it will use.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to boot straight away; if the I agree to the Minecraft EULA box then appears, tick it.
- Click Install and reinstall, then watch the Console tab until the install finishes.
The pack has dedicated server files for both its 1.20.1 and 1.18.2 branches.
Which file installs
With nothing chosen, the install takes the newest 1.20.1 file that has a server pack. On CurseForge's file list that is DeceasedCraft_Beta_DH_Edition-5.10.17, an alpha upload made 18 minutes after the standard DeceasedCraft_Beta-5.10.17. The author says the DH Edition most likely needs a powerful PC, and gives 12 GB or more as its server RAM, against the 10 GB or more above.
To install the standard file instead, use the version dropdown near the top of the install window, which reads Newest that fits your server. It appears only where the updated installer is on. It lists the pack's 1.20.1 and 1.18.2 files, whatever version your server runs now, and a dropdown above it that reads Every Minecraft version can narrow the list to one of them. A second dropdown beside that one picks the release channel. While it reads Stable, the default, the list leaves out files CurseForge marks as alpha or beta, so the DH Edition, an alpha, appears only after you switch it to Alpha. Choose DeceasedCraft_Beta-5.10.17 (Beta is part of its name), the first file in the list. The 1.18.2 builds, starting with DeceasedCraft_v5.5.5, come after the 1.20.1 ones in the same list.
Turn on command blocks
The author asks hosts to enable command blocks, because multiblocks and vehicle spawns depend on them.
- Start the server once so it writes
server.properties, then stop it. - Open the Config Editor tab, find Command blocks under Gameplay and switch it on.
- Click Save changes, then start the server again.
Join the server
Share the address from the left rail (Connect to your server for the first time shows where). Use Operators in the Players tab to make yourself an operator (Whitelist players and set operators).
Common problems
- The server stops with an out-of-memory error. The pack needs the RAM above. Press Download Log in the Console tab (a download icon on a phone) to read the error, then use Change plan in the Settings tab if you are short.
- Vehicles or multiblocks do not work. Check that Command blocks is on and that you restarted afterwards.
- The install window lists mods to download. If it names mods you must fetch yourself, follow Modpack mods to download from CurseForge.
Installing a modpack replaces the server's current files. Keep the backup if you may want your old world back.
