Arcadia RPG Minecraft server setup

Install Arcadia [RPG] v3.8.2 on Forge 1.20.1 from the Modpacks tab using its server files, check the RAM and disk it needs, then start the Minecraft server.

Updated 3 min read

Arcadia [RPG] is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1. Its page describes a fully immersive RPG experience with a personal quest book. It publishes server files for each release, and the Modpacks tab installs them in one go.

Checked against Arcadia [RPG] v3.8.2 on Forge 1.20.1-47.4.20, October 2026.

What the pack needs

  • Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.20. The server files carry the Forge installer, and the panel runs it. The panel sets Java 17 for 1.20.1 on its own.
  • Plenty of memory. The pack's page gives no RAM figure, and the server files hold 318 mod jars. The RAM guide puts a Forge mod at around 50 MB each, which means a pack this size needs a large plan. See the Minecraft plans for the sizes on offer.
  • Disk space. The v3.8.2 server files are a download of about 1 GB before they unpack, so check Disk Analyser first.
  • The same pack for every player. Each player installs Arcadia [RPG] v3.8.2. The pack's page tells players to use the CurseForge app, search for Arcadia and press Install.

Install the pack

Under Modpacks, press the CurseForge chip and search for Arcadia. Pick Arcadia [RPG], the one by PixelDreamStudios, and check that the row shows Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge, then press Install. The popup should read Forge, Minecraft 1.20.1. If it names another version, pick the 1.20.1 build in the popup's version list, or press Cancel if the popup has no such list or the list has no 1.20.1 build. A pack this large may take longer than a few minutes to install. The version list, the backup and the EULA are covered in Install a CurseForge modpack. Then press Start on the Console and wait for For help, type before you join.

Common problems

  • The install fails while unpacking. Your plan's disk may be too small for a 1 GB pack. Check Disk Analyser, free some space and install again.
  • The server runs out of memory or lags. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab. If RAM stays full, a bigger plan is the fix, because the pack is large.
  • Mod mismatch on join. The player's pack version differs from the server's. Update the client to v3.8.2, or install the same version on both sides.
  • The server stops at start-up. Open the Console tab and read the last lines before it stopped. Wait for the ready line before you decide it has stalled.
  • The popup names another Minecraft version. This guide covers the 1.20.1 build only, so do not install another. Choose 1.20.1 from the popup's version list, or press Cancel if there is no list or it has no 1.20.1 build.
