Use the Notes tab on your server
The Notes tab is a private notepad for one server. See how it saves, its 3,000 character limit, and who can open it.
The Notes tab is a private notepad that belongs to one server. It suits the things you would otherwise lose in a chat thread: which mods you installed, the world seed, coordinates of a base, or a reminder to ask a friend to update their client.
Open it
In the left rail, open More and choose Notes. If More is collapsed, select its heading first. Each server has its own notepad, so notes you write on one server do not appear on another.
Write and save

Write a note on your server
Our real panel, running on sample data - 3 steps
Type into the box. Long lines wrap, and a number in the margin counts each line you start.
There is no save button. The note saves when you click away from the box, and the line under it changes from "Saves automatically when you click away." to Saved. If you are about to close the page, click outside the box and wait for Saved first.
At the bottom right, a counter shows your lines and the characters used out of 3,000, such as 12 lines - 340/3,000. The limit is 3,000 characters. The counter turns amber as you pass 90% and red, with the word full, once the box can take no more. Text beyond the limit is not accepted, so trim older notes to make room.
Clear everything
Clear all wipes the whole note. It asks "Clear all notes?" and warns that it can't be undone, so select Clear notes only when you are sure. The button is grayed out while the box is empty.
Who can see it
Notes are for the server owner. People you invite through the Team tab do not get a Notes tab at all, whatever permissions you give them, so nothing you write here reaches them (How to give friends access to your server).
The note is kept with your server's record on our side, not as a file in its folders. That means it does not appear in the File Manager.
The note is stored as plain text, exactly as you type it. Keep it for reminders and settings, and leave out passwords you use anywhere else.
Ideas for what to keep
- The mods or plugins you have added and the date you added them, which helps when you are tracking down a crash (Why is my server lagging?).
- The world seed and the coordinates of spawn, bases and portals.
- Your restart plan, for example "restarts nightly, see Schedules" (How to schedule automatic restarts).
- A to-do list for the next time you log in: update the version, clear old backups, ask people to re-download the pack.
Frequently asked questions
Do notes send me reminders?
No. The tab is a notepad only; it has no reminder or alert feature.
Can I paste formatted text?
The box takes plain text. Bold, links and images do not carry over.
I can't see the tab
Check that you are signed in as the server's owner. A team member signed in on the same server will not see Notes.
