The Schedules tab runs tasks on your server while you're away, such as a nightly restart or a backup every Sunday. A schedule is a timer that holds one or more tasks, run in order, and it keeps running until you pause or delete it.
Open the Schedules tab
- Log in to the dashboard and press Open on your server.
- In the left rail, expand More and choose Schedules. On a phone or tablet, pick Schedules from the section menu at the top of the panel.
Turn on the nightly restart (Minecraft and Palworld)

Turn on the nightly restart
Our real panel, running on sample data - 4 steps
Minecraft and Palworld servers get a Nightly restart with warnings card at the top of the tab. It sets up a daily restart and a 5-minute in-game warning in one go.
- Pick a time in the Restart time box. Times come in 15-minute steps.
- Press Enable. The list gains [PYW] Nightly restart - 5 minute warning and [PYW] Nightly restart.
Both run only while the server is online, and the restart goes ahead even if people are playing. The two tasks aren't linked, so change them together. To move the restart, press Remove on the card, then enable it again at the new time. To pause it, pause both tasks. Pressing Edit on one of them turns it into a schedule with tasks, as described under Older schedules.
Rust, ARK: Survival Evolved, Valheim, Garry's Mod and Terraria servers don't have the card. Create a Daily restart schedule instead, as below.
Create a schedule
- Press New schedule. It sits in the strip at the top of the tab, and on the No schedules yet card when the tab is empty.
- On Pick a starting point, pick a template and press Next.
- On When it runs, change the Name if you like, then choose a frequency under How often and set the time.
- Check the Time zone. It starts on your server's location.
- Read the line under it, which says when the schedule runs next, and the Tasks it will add list, which shows the tasks the template adds.
- Press Create schedule. The new card shows a Next run countdown.
Everything a template fills in can be changed on the When it runs step or on the card afterwards.
A scheduled restart or stop disconnects everyone who's playing. Set up one of the warnings further down this page.
Add, edit and remove tasks
A schedule runs its tasks in order, up to 10 of them. Each task is one action. On the schedule's card:
- Press Add task to add one at the end.
- Press Edit on a task's row to change it, or Remove to take it out.
The Add a task window has these parts:
Press Add task to save a new one, or Save task when you're editing.
Pick the timing
How often offers Every day, Every week, Every month (days 1 to 28), Every few hours (every 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 or 12 hours) and Every few minutes (every 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes). Times move in 5-minute steps.
For anything else, choose Custom (cron) and fill in Minute, Hour, Day of month, Month and Day of week (0 is Sunday). Each field takes *, a number, a range (1-5), a list (4,16) or a step (*/15). For example, 0 in Minute, 4,16 in Hour and * in the rest runs the schedule at 4:00 AM and 4:00 PM every day.
The Time zone list starts on your server's location, so 4:00 AM means 4:00 AM there. If you'd rather think in your own time, pick your city and the line under the list shows when the schedule runs next. The card keeps the zone you chose.
Warn players before a restart
On Minecraft, Palworld and Project Zomboid, the Daily restart, Weekly restart and Nightly backup + restart templates already include an in-game warning before the restart. On any game you can build one yourself, as tasks in the same schedule:
- Press Add task, set Action to Send a command and enter the broadcast command from the table below.
- Add another task with Send a power action set to Restart, and set Pause first (seconds) to the warning time, for example 300 for five minutes.
- To tell your Discord channel as well, add a Post to Discord task before the restart.
The warning comes first in the list, so the pause on the restart is counted from it.
Palworld needs underscores in place of spaces. See How to become admin and use admin commands on your Palworld server for its other commands.
Get a Discord webhook link
- In Discord, right-click the channel and choose Edit Channel.
- Open Integrations, then Webhooks.
- Press New Webhook, then Copy Webhook URL.
- Paste it into Discord webhook link in the panel.
Anyone with the link can post in that channel, and the panel doesn't show it again after you save.
Run a task only when something is true
Under Conditions in the task window, press Add condition and pick what to check:
- Server state is or is not Running, Offline, Starting or Stopping.
- Players online, CPU %, Memory %, Memory (MB), Disk % or Disk (MB), compared with a number you type: is exactly, is not, is less than, is at most, is more than or is at least. The number shows its unit (% or MB).
The task is skipped, and the skip is logged, unless every condition is met. The other tasks in the schedule still run.
To restart only when the server is empty, add the condition Players online is exactly 0 to the restart task. A skipped run waits for the next scheduled time, so pair it with Every few hours for several chances a day. To run a task only while the server is up, add Server state is Running.
Add the same condition to the warning task as well, or the warning goes out on time even when the restart is then skipped.
The players check works on Minecraft, Palworld, Terraria, Valheim, Rust and ARK. Garry's Mod servers can't report who's online, so a task with a Players online condition is skipped every time while the server is running. Leave the condition off there.
Add a backup task
A Create a backup task backs up on a timer. Each run uses one backup slot: the top of the Backups tab shows how many are left, and when they're full the oldest unprotected backup is deleted to make room. The Daily backup template sets one up in a few clicks. How to create and restore backups covers the one-click weekly backup on the Backups tab and how to restore one.
Before a big change, take a backup yourself and Protect it so the schedule can't rotate it out.
Run now and Run history
Press Run now on a card to run its tasks once, straight away. Open Run history on the card to see each run with its status and the result of every task in it: done, skipped (with the condition that wasn't met) or failed. Press Refresh there to read it again.
Older schedules
Schedules made before the tasks list existed keep working and keep their times. Press Edit on one and it becomes a schedule with tasks: its player warning and Discord notice turn into tasks in the same schedule, and its old Only run when the server is online and Only if the server is empty boxes turn into conditions.
If a task didn't do what you expected
Open Run history on the card. Each run lists every task with a short reason when it didn't go as planned. Match what you see:
- The schedule ran at the wrong hour - check the Time zone on the When it runs step. Press Edit on the card to change it.
Skipped: Only when Players online = 0 (it was 2)- someone was playing, so the restart waited. It tries again at the next scheduled time.Skipped: Only when Players online = 0 (couldn't read it)- the panel couldn't tell who was online. On Garry's Mod this happens every run, so remove the condition. On Minecraft or Palworld it may be a one-off, and the next run tries again. If it keeps happening, check thatlistgets a reply on the Console (Minecraft), or restart the server (Palworld).Skipped: Only when Server state is running (it was offline)- the task has a Server state condition and the server was off.- A
Failedline on a Discord, Slack or webhook task - the link may have been deleted at the other end. Press Edit on the task and paste a new one.
Frequently asked questions
Do schedules run when the dashboard is closed?
Yes. They run on our side, so the panel doesn't need to be open.
How often should I restart my server?
Once a day suits most servers, and it's what the Daily restart template and the Nightly restart with warnings card set up. Pick an hour when your players are usually offline. If lag builds up between restarts, Why is my server lagging? Find the cause covers the other causes.
Can I schedule a Rust wipe here?
No. Map and blueprint wipes have their own schedule on the Wipes tab and don't appear in Schedules. See Rust wipe schedule and forced wipe dates.
Can someone on my team manage schedules?
Yes, with the Scheduled tasks permission. The Co-admin preset on the Team tab includes it, and Player (friend or family) and Moderator don't. Give friends access to your server panel explains each preset.
