Cottage Witch is a cosy vanilla++ modpack for Minecraft 1.19.2 on Forge. Its CurseForge page describes cottage magic as domestic magic in cooking, crafting and decorating, with quests that lead new players through the content. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's own server files.
Checked against Cottage Witch 1.17.8 (the CurseForge file dated 19 July 2026, server files dated 5 August 2026) on Forge 43.5.1 and Minecraft 1.19.2, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge 43.5.1. The server files' start script names Forge 43.5.0 and says Minecraft 1.19 needs Java 17. The pack's CurseForge file was made on Forge 43.5.1, and the install uses that build. Java 17 is the match for it, and the panel chooses that for you.
- Memory. The CurseForge page suggests 6 to 8 GB of RAM for a player's own computer. For servers it only repeats its hosting partner's sizing: 4 GB for 5 or fewer players and 8 GB for under 10. The panel sizes the heap from your plan, so how much RAM a Minecraft server needs is the place to weigh those figures.
- Disk space. The server files are a download of about 389 MB and unpack to about 467 MB, and both are on the disk while the install unpacks.
- Players. Everyone joining needs the version the server installs, which is 1.17.8 here. The page says the 1.18 version is no longer supported.
Install the server
On the Modpacks tab, press the CurseForge button in the row of sources, search for Cottage Witch and press Install on Cottage Witch. A lighter remix, Cottage Witch: Recast, is a different pack. The popup names Forge and Minecraft 1.19.2. The rest of the install window (the backup, the EULA tick and holding the button) is in Install a CurseForge modpack.
The server files hold the mods and configs but no Forge. Their readme says to run startserver.bat or startserver.sh on your own computer before uploading to a host, and that script downloads Forge 43.5.0. The panel does not run that script. Instead the install adds Forge itself, using the build the pack's CurseForge file was made on, which is Forge 43.5.1, a newer build than the 43.5.0 in the script.
First start
The pack's own script creates a server.properties with allow-flight=true and max-tick-time=-1 when none exists. The panel does not run that script. Open the Config Editor and set Allow flight under Gameplay and Watchdog timeout (ms) under Performance to match.
Voice chat
The pack includes Simple Voice Chat. Its config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties sets audio to port=24454, a separate port from the game. If your plan includes extra ports, add one under Settings then Network ports, set port in that file to the new number and restart. How to add an extra port explains the card.
Common problems
- A player is refused at the door. Their Cottage Witch has to match the server's version, on Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge. If it does, compare their mod list with the server's
modsfolder. - A crash at boot. The crash report names the mod at fault: find and read a crash report. The pack takes bug reports on its GitHub page.
