FTB Presents HermitPack is a Feed The Beast pack built so you can play along with the Hermitcraft members' YouTube and Twitch series. It runs on Minecraft 1.10.2 with Forge. CurseForge marks it as no longer maintained. You can install the server from the Modpacks tab using Feed The Beast's own source.
Checked against FTB Presents HermitPack 1.7.0 on Forge 12.18.3.2254 and Minecraft 1.10.2, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.10.2 with Forge 12.18.3.2254. Feed The Beast lists Java 8 for it. The panel runs Minecraft 1.10.2 on Java 8 without you choosing.
- Memory. The pack's page recommends 4096 MB (4 GB). Your plan sets the RAM, so read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install.
- Disk space. The server files in Feed The Beast's list for 1.7.0 add up to about 147 MB.
- The same pack version for players. There is one release, 1.7.0. Players can run it from the FTB App or the CurseForge app.
Install from the Feed The Beast source
This route runs Feed The Beast's own server installer.
On the Modpacks tab, press the Feed The Beast button and search for HermitPack. Feed The Beast searches need at least three letters. If there is no Feed The Beast button in that row, that source is not available on your account yet, and this route does not apply until it is. Pick FTB Presents HermitPack; the popup names Forge and Minecraft 1.10.2. Feed The Beast's installer takes a few minutes. The window's other options, including what to do when every backup slot is used, are in Install an FTB modpack.
The console shows "Downloading the FTB server installer", "Clearing the old server files" and "Installing the FTB pack. This takes a few minutes." as it goes. When the pack is in place it prints "Pack installed. Launch: -jar forge-1.10.2-12.18.3.2254-universal.jar nogui".
With no version chosen, the tab picks the newest release, which is 1.7.0, the only one Feed The Beast lists. After the installer finishes, the panel launches the Forge jar in the server's main folder, here forge-1.10.2-12.18.3.2254-universal.jar.
About the CurseForge listing
CurseForge lists the same pack as FTB Presents HermitPack, but its file carries no Forge tag, so the install popup reads "modded" with Minecraft 1.10.2 rather than naming Forge. Its server pack also launches through a jar named FTBserver-1.10.2-12.18.3.2254-universal.jar, which the panel does not use. Installing from the CurseForge source also works: the console prints "The pack ships no server engine. Installing its loader" and "Installing Forge 1.10.2-12.18.3.2254 (the version the pack was made on, from CurseForge)", and the server boots. The Feed The Beast source is the one that runs the pack's own installer.
First start
Press Start on the Console. On HermitPack the ready line looks like "Done (13.459s)! For help, type", and the time in brackets varies.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run HermitPack 1.7.0 on Minecraft 1.10.2 with Forge.
- The install fails. Press Last install log on the Modpacks tab to read it. "Couldn't fetch FTB's server installer" means nothing was changed, so try again in a minute.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
