Palworld has two currencies for its Technology menu: Technology Points and Ancient Technology Points. Regular points unlock most buildings and recipes. Ancient points unlock the advanced tier that comes from the lost civilisation. This guide covers where each kind comes from and what to do when you run short.
Checked against Palworld v1.0.5 (Pocketpair's latest patch notes, 15 September 2026), October 2026.
What the two kinds of point do
paldb.cc describes the Technology tab as where you spend Technology Points to unlock new buildings and item recipes. It describes Ancient Technology as advanced knowledge from a lost civilisation, unlocked with Ancient Technology Points that you earn by defeating powerful enemies.
Where Technology Points come from
- Leveling up. paldb.cc names leveling up first. palworld.wiki.gg also lists leveling as a source, but its figures date from version 0.7.0, before the 1.0 level cap rose from 65 to 80 (Pocketpair's 1.0 notes), so this guide quotes no per-level amount.
- Great Eagle Statues. paldb.cc says you gain points each time you activate a statue. The wiki also lists unlocking fast travel points as a source.
- Technical Manuals. The wiki says these come from loot and merchants and grant a set number of points when consumed. Pocketpair's 1.0 notes add that Technical Manuals and Training Manuals can now be used in bulk.
Where Ancient Technology Points come from
- Powerful enemies. paldb.cc says defeating powerful enemies awards ancient points. palworld.wiki.gg is more specific and names the first defeat of each Alpha Pal and of each Tower Boss as sources. It gives amounts, but only the wiki does and its figures date from 0.7.0, so this guide quotes none.
- Ancient Technical Manual. Pocketpair introduced it in v0.2.0.6 as an item that gives ancient technology points and can be found in dungeon chests. paldb.cc agrees that it drops from dungeon chests and lists Arrogant Pal Critic NPCs as another source. Using one is a quick way to cover a shortfall.
Costs change between patches
Pocketpair retunes technology costs in balance patches. Its 1.0 notes list a "Technology Rebalance" that reviewed unlock levels, and the v1.0.3 notes made the Aquatic Construction Kit cheaper to unlock, in both its level requirement and its ancient point cost. Read the cost on the unlock screen rather than relying on an old guide.
On your server
Two settings in the World Settings tab affect the pace:
- EXP rate in the Rates group. Pocketpair's description is "EXP gain multiplier", and leveling is one source of Technology Points.
- Fast travel in the World & Misc group. Pocketpair's description is "Enable fast travel". Leave it on if your players rely on the statues, since the sources here do not say whether a statue still awards points with fast travel off.
