Palworld bases fill up with chests quickly, and the game now has several tools for keeping them tidy: Quick Stack, chest names, item filters and auto-deposit. This guide covers what each does, which patch added it and how they work together. Pocketpair's patch notes are the source here, because the wiki chest page does not cover these features.
Checked against Palworld v1.0.5 (Pocketpair's latest patch notes, 15 September 2026), October 2026. The notes do not give button layouts or menu paths, so use the on-screen prompts in your own game for those.
Quick Stack and Easy Bulk Storage
Pocketpair introduced "Easy Bulk Storage" in v0.6.0. Its notes describe it as a way to store all materials in any chest around your base with the click of one button. In v0.6.6 it adjusted the controller version so that pressing the LS button applies immediately.
The 1.0 notes then name Quick Stack and the bulk storage exclusion lists directly, with two changes:
- When Quick Stack moves items from your inventory to a chest, an item now goes into an empty slot if every existing stack of that item is already full.
- The chest quick-storage feature now respects the exclusion lists you set for bulk storage, so items on those lists are left alone.
Name your chests
Pocketpair's 1.0 notes say "Chests can now be named." The same release says storage-type structures can now be painted, and that chest filter settings are easier to see: the filter is now always shown when an item filter is active.
The notes do not say which menu holds the name, how long a name can be or whether other players see it, so this guide does not guess. Name one chest and check what your game shows.
Filters and auto-deposit
Chest filters arrived much earlier, in v0.2.0.6: you select item types to allow or disallow inside a chest. The 1.0 notes add an option on chests so players can auto-deposit matching items without opening the chest. The 1.0 notes also say base Pals handle hauling and storage tasks better, and that interactions with chests, medicine cabinets, guild chests and other containers were improved.
A tidy way to organize is one chest per item type: name each chest for what it holds, set its filter to match and then use Quick Stack. The notes support each piece of that, though not the combination as a single feature.
Locks and shared chests
Two older additions affect who can use a chest. v0.3.1 added a private lock for chests, with the line that your friends will not be able to steal your metal. v0.4.11 added the Guild Chest: items placed in one are shared among all guild chests. 1.0 added roles to guilds, with some structures restricted to specific roles.
On your server
These features are part of the game client and the world's base building, so they work the same on a hosted world. The World Settings tab does not have a switch for any of them. For the rest of that tab, see Palworld server settings explained.
