JurassiCraft 3 is a Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge modpack built around the JurassiCraft dinosaur mod. Its CurseForge page describes an adventure pack where you relive the Jurassic Park films and work towards building your own dinosaur park, with technology and exploration mods around it. This guide installs the pack on your server from the Modpacks tab. If you only want the single mod on a server, read Set up a JurassiCraft server instead.
Checked against JurassiCraft 3 version 0.1 on Forge 14.23.5.2855 (Minecraft 1.12.2), October 2026.
What it needs
- Forge for Minecraft 1.12.2. The pack's manifest names Forge 14.23.5.2855 and lists 51 mod files. The panel runs 1.12.2 on Java 8 by itself, so you do not pick a Java version.
- RAM. The pack page recommends giving the pack at least 4 GB of RAM. That advice is written for the player's own computer and gives no server figure, so use it as a starting point and watch the RAM card on the Console tab. Minecraft hosting lists the plans.
- The same pack on every player's computer. Players install JurassiCraft 3 from CurseForge.
Install it on your server
Installing a modpack reinstalls the whole server, so use a new server or one you can wipe. On the Modpacks tab, choose the CurseForge chip, search for JurassiCraft 3 and find the row called JurassiCraft 3 with the 1.12.2 badge. Press Install: the window that opens says it reinstalls your server with JurassiCraft 3 (modded, Minecraft 1.12.2). Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to boot by itself. The backup, the EULA box and the held install button are covered in Install a CurseForge modpack.
This pack has no server pack on CurseForge, so the panel installs the player download and fetches the mods its manifest names, client-only ones included, leaving out resource packs and shaders. The console still calls the download the server pack while it works. It then installs Forge 1.12.2-14.23.5.2855, the build the pack's manifest names. It turns no mod off: the check that finds mods which only run on players' computers reads files that Forge mods for 1.12.2 do not have. When this guide was checked, the server started with those mods in place, because Forge itself switches off the ones marked client side as it loads. The pack's configuration files are copied to the server's root.
CurseForge marks the JurassiCraft mod, which this pack includes, as not allowed for download by other apps. If the install window lists it, follow Modpack mods to download from CurseForge.
First start
The pack ships config/jurassicraft.cfg with the line B:"Dinosaur Spawning"=false. Open the file in File Manager and change it to B:"Dinosaur Spawning"=true to switch that setting on, then restart. In the same file, fossil and amber generation are on. To use commands, make yourself an operator in the Players tab (Whitelist players and set operators).
Common problems
- The server stops while loading. Read the log in the Console tab. A mod that the install window listed and you skipped is the first thing to rule out. If the log names a mod that only runs on players' computers, press Disable on it under Mods > Installed and start again.
- The server stops with an out-of-memory error. Use Change plan in the Settings tab.
