Upload blueprints to a Satisfactory server

Copy your Satisfactory blueprints from your PC to your server with the File Manager tab or SFTP, make the game see them, and download them back.

Updated 3 min read

Blueprints are the layouts you save in Satisfactory's Blueprint Designer. On a dedicated server they live in a folder on the server, so you copy them there yourself. This guide shows where they are on your PC, where they go on your server, and how to get them back.

How blueprints are stored

Each blueprint is a pair of files with the same name:

FileWhat it holds
.sbpThe layout itself.
.sbpcfgThe description, icon and icon color.

Always copy both.

Blueprints are kept per world, which the game calls a session. Each session gets its own folder, named after it. A blueprint you made in "Our factory" doesn't show up in a world called "Test run" until you copy it across.

Find your blueprints on your PC

  1. Press Windows key + R, paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\blueprints and press Enter.
  2. Open the folder named after your world.
  3. Your blueprints are the .sbp and .sbpcfg pairs inside.

If there's no blueprints folder, you haven't saved a blueprint on that PC yet. It's the same folder for Steam and Epic.

Where they go on your server

On your server, blueprints sit beside your saves, with a folder for each world:

.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/blueprints/<your world>/

A new server doesn't have a blueprints folder yet. The game makes it, and your world's folder inside it, the first time someone saves a blueprint in that world. So before you upload, join your world, save one small blueprint in the Blueprint Designer, and then put your files in the folder that appears.

Warning

The Blueprint Designer has to be unlocked in your world first: it's the Tier 4 milestone FICSIT Blueprints.

Upload with the File Manager tab

  1. Make sure a blueprint has been saved in your world once (above).
  2. Open the File Manager tab and go to .config, then Epic, FactoryGame, Saved, SaveGames, blueprints, and your world's folder.
  3. Press Upload files and pick the .sbp and .sbpcfg files, or drag them onto the list.

Browser uploads stop at 100 MB a file. Blueprints are tiny, so this never gets in the way.

Upload over SFTP

SFTP is quicker for a lot of files. Connect with the steps in Connect over SFTP with FileZilla or WinSCP, go to the same folder, and drag the files across. If your app hides folders whose names start with a dot, turn on its option to show hidden files so you can see .config.

Make the game see them

The game reads blueprints when it loads the world, so files you copy in while it runs won't show until the world is loaded again. The simplest way:

  1. Press Stop in your dashboard. The server saves your world first.
  2. Upload the files.
  3. Press Start, wait for Ready to join, then open the Blueprint Designer's list in the game.

Blueprints from friends or the web

A blueprint someone shares with you works the same way: put its .sbp and .sbpcfg in your world's folder, then load the world again as above.

Download them back to your PC

Open the same folder in the File Manager tab or over SFTP and download the blueprint files. Drop them into the matching world folder under %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\blueprints on your PC, then load your world in the game.

Backups and blueprints

Your server's backups keep the .config folder, so blueprints are included, and restoring a backup brings them back with your saves. How to create and restore backups shows how.
