New Simple Mods modpack Minecraft server

Install the New Simple Mods vanilla-plus modpack on a Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge server from the Modpacks tab, with its memory and disk needs.

Updated 3 min read

New Simple Mods is a vanilla-plus modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, by the CurseForge authors Lupin and TeamLUP. The author aims it at newer players, with hundreds of mods that need no study, such as decoration, biome, animal and structure mods. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's CurseForge server pack.

Checked against New Simple Mods - MC 1.21.1 - 43.1.0 (the CurseForge file dated 17 October 2026) on NeoForge 21.1.250 and Minecraft 1.21.1, October 2026.

What the pack needs

  • Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge 21.1.250. The server pack's variables.txt names both. Minecraft 1.21.1 runs on Java 21, which the panel picks for you.
  • Memory. The author's page recommends a minimum of 7 GB of RAM for a server, and more with many players. Your plan sets the RAM, so see how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans.
  • Disk space. The server pack is a download of about 727 MB and unpacks to about 806 MB, and the download sits on your disk while it unpacks.
  • The same pack version for players. Players install New Simple Mods from the CurseForge app, on the same file.

Install the server

On the CurseForge chip in Modpacks, search for New Simple Mods, find New Simple Mods - Easy to Understand | 1.21 UPDATE! by Lupin and press Install. Do not pick the separate Fabric pack from the same author, which is a different pack. The popup names NeoForge and Minecraft 1.21.1. For the version list, the backup and the EULA, see Install a CurseForge modpack.

The pack ships no NeoForge files of its own, so the install reads variables.txt and sets up NeoForge 21.1.250 itself.

The pack's Modrinth page says its upload leaves out some mods and carries no server pack, and it recommends the CurseForge version. Install from CurseForge. Then press Start on the Console and wait for For help, type.

Updating later

The pack's changelog for this version says bugs were fixed and mods updated, and that it is not essential to update but highly recommended. It also says to back up your world first and never change version, so a world played on 1.20.1 must stay on 1.20.1. Create a backup on the Backups tab before any pack update.

Common problems

  • A player cannot join. Check they run the same pack file, on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge, then compare their mod list with the server's mods folder.
  • The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
