Invasion is a Forge survival modpack for Minecraft 1.10.2 by darkosto. Its CurseForge page sets the scene as a world where every resource has been mined out: you collect materials from air drops, you cannot craft a crafting table yourself, and other survivors come for you once you start crafting. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's own server files from CurseForge.
Checked against Invasion 1.0.12 (the CurseForge file dated 22 December 2021) and its server files, on Forge 12.18.3.2511 and Minecraft 1.10.2, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.10.2 with Forge 12.18.3.2511. The server files carry that Forge installer. The panel switches Java for you, which is Java 8 for this version.
- Memory. The server files'
README.txtrecommends at least 4 GB, says it can run on 2 GB but that is not ideal, and warns that the pack uses a fair amount of RAM and is hard on the CPU. Read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install. - Disk space. The server files are a download of about 125 MB and unpack to about 143 MB. Both sit on your plan's disk while it unpacks, so allow about 270 MB free. The Disk Analyser tab shows what is using space.
- The same pack version for players. This guide installs 1.0.12. Players should run that version from the CurseForge app.
Install the server files
Press the CurseForge chip above the search box and search for Invasion. Press Install on Invasion by darkosto. Many packs have Invasion in the name, such as Lucky World Invasion, so check the author. The popup names Forge and Minecraft 1.10.2. Leave Keep my world, settings and player lists unticked if the popup shows it: the pack's server.properties sets the world type it needs, and ticking it puts your old file back over the pack's. The install runs the Forge installer that the pack ships. The rest of the window (the version list, the backup and the EULA) is in Install a CurseForge modpack. Then press Start on the Console and wait for For help, type.
Settings the pack depends on
The CurseForge page says to generate the world with the world type BIOMESOP so the terrain comes out right. The pack's server.properties sets level-type=BIOMESOP already. Leave World type alone in the Config Editor: its list has five choices and none of them is BIOMESOP.
If you need to change difficulty or gamemode, edit server.properties in File Manager instead of the Config Editor. Before Minecraft 1.14 those two took only numbers, and the Config Editor writes names such as hard. Other options, such as Player slots and View distance (chunks), are safe to change there.
The pack also limits how far players can travel. In config/worldlimiter.cfg, I:maxWorldSize=5000 is how far a player can travel before being teleported, and 0 turns it off. Stop the server, raise the number in File Manager, then start again.
The page says the pack is meant for Survival, Hardcore and HQM Hardcore. To play with limited lives, run /hqm hardcore in game.
Common problems
- The terrain looks wrong. The page says
BIOMESOPis needed for the correct terrain. Check thatlevel-typeinserver.propertiesstill readsBIOMESOP. A world that already exists keeps the terrain it was created with. - A player cannot join. Check they run Invasion 1.0.12 on Minecraft 1.10.2 with Forge.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
