FTB Infinity Evolved is Feed The Beast's all-purpose Minecraft 1.7.10 pack, with tech, magic and exploration and a quest book. Its page calls it the general pack designed for solo play and for small and medium servers. It has two game modes, normal and expert. The Modpacks tab lists it under its Feed The Beast source, and that source installs it.
Checked against FTB Infinity Evolved 1.7 pack, version 3.1.0, on Forge 10.13.4.1614 and Minecraft 1.7.10, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.7.10, Forge 10.13.4.1614 and Java 8. These are the targets Feed The Beast lists for 3.1.0. The panel picks Java 8 for every Minecraft version below 1.17, so you do not set it.
- 4 GB of RAM. The pack's page lists 4 GB as both the minimum and the recommended amount. Your plan sets the RAM, so read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install.
- About 250 MB of disk. The file list for 3.1.0 adds up to roughly that, before the world grows.
- One release. 3.1.0 is the only version Feed The Beast lists for this pack, and your players need the same one. The pack's page is on feed-the-beast.com.
Install from the Feed The Beast source
Under Modpacks, press the Feed The Beast chip and search for Infinity Evolved, then press Install on FTB Infinity Evolved 1.7. If there is no Feed The Beast chip, that source is not available on your account yet. The same search lists FTB Infinity Evolved Skyblock, which is a separate pack. FTB Infinity Lite 1.10, which a search for just Infinity also lists, is another separate one. The rest of the window (the version list, keeping your world, the backup and the start box) is in Install an FTB modpack.
First start
On a fresh install of this pack, the first start runs on Java 8 and the console ends with a line like Done (7.176s)! For help, type "help" or "?".
The install writes a minimal server.properties with just the server address and port, and the server fills in the rest the first time it starts. After that start, open the Config Editor and set Player slots for the group you expect. Its help text calls View distance (chunks) the biggest lever on RAM and CPU, so lower it first if the server struggles.
Normal and expert mode
A new or existing world starts in normal mode. The pack's own guide pages list the commands that change it:
ftb_mode listprints the available modes, which are normal and expert.ftb_mode getprints the world's current mode.ftb_mode set expertswitches to expert mode, andftb_mode set normalswitches back.
Type them in the Console tab's command box without a leading slash. On a fresh install, ftb_mode get answers Current gamemode: normal and ftb_mode list answers Available gamemodes: normal and expert. The pack's page says players joining a server are switched to the server's mode when they log in. The page also says a world reset is highly suggested if you plan to play expert mode, because of the large progression changes.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run FTB Infinity Evolved 3.1.0 on Minecraft 1.7.10. Join a modded server from your launcher shows the steps.
- The install stops part way. The tab shows "The last install didn't finish" with Show install log and Retry install.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault. The pack's page says it contains Fastcraft, and that bug reports to mod authors should state Fastcraft is enabled.
