FTB Continuum modpack Minecraft server

Install FTB Continuum 1.7.0 on a Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge server from the Feed The Beast source in the Modpacks tab, with RAM, first start and fixes.

Updated 3 min read

FTB Continuum is an expert-style tech pack from the Feed The Beast team for Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge. Its page says most recipes and the intended progression of its mods have been changed, with custom quests to guide you through. The Modpacks tab installs this pack from its Feed The Beast source.

Checked against FTB Continuum 1.7.0 (released in October 2020, the newest release) on Forge 14.23.5.2796 and Minecraft 1.12.2, October 2026.

What the pack needs

  • Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2796 and Java 8. These are the targets Feed The Beast lists for 1.7.0. The panel runs 1.12.2 on Java 8 and picks it for you.
  • Memory. The pack page asks for at least 3 GB of RAM and recommends 4 GB. Compare that with your plan using how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans.
  • The same pack version for players. They install FTB Continuum 1.7.0 in the FTB App, Feed The Beast's launcher. Join a modded server from your launcher has the steps.

Install from the Feed The Beast source

Under Modpacks, press the Feed The Beast chip and search for Continuum, then press Install on FTB Continuum. If there is no Feed The Beast chip, that source is not switched on for your account yet. Feed The Beast lists 1.6.0 and 1.7.0 as releases and 1.6.1 as a beta, and the panel asks for the newest release. The rest of the window (the version list, keeping your world, the backup and the start box) is in Install an FTB modpack. The window has no EULA box for a Feed The Beast pack, so on a new server press Start yourself after the install.

When the install finishes, the console prints Pack installed. Launch: -jar forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2796-universal.jar nogui. CurseForge also lists an FTB Continuum, but its newest file there is 1.6.0 from 2019, older than the 1.7.0 that Feed The Beast serves, so use the Feed The Beast source.

What to tell your players

The pack page says the survival difficulty is unchanged apart from the Spice of Life food mod, set up so it is not a burden. The quests are optional, but the page calls them highly suggested because of the large gameplay changes. It adds that the overall goal is to extend play by making large changes to progression throughout the mods, so tell players not to expect the recipes they know.

First start

The ready line reads Done (9.836s)! For help, type "help" or "?" with your own start time in the brackets.

Open Players under Essentials and add yourself under Operators with Make operator if you want to run commands. In the Config Editor, Player slots under Players sets how many people can be online at once. Restart after saving.

Common problems

  • A player cannot join. Check they run FTB Continuum 1.7.0 on Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge.
  • The server runs out of memory. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail, then read Why is my server lagging.
  • The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
