In the game this rod is the Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso), and you earn it by finding its schematic out at sea. This guide covers where that schematic comes from, what advanced salvaging needs and how to craft the rod.
Checked against Palworld v1.0.5 (Pocketpair's latest patch notes, 15 September 2026), October 2026.
What the rod is
The Palworld wiki lists six fishing rods, and the Depresso one is among them. It has a bar size modifier of 1.9 and a durability of 720, and the wiki says no merchant sells it and no enemy drops it. On the name: paldb.cc lists its rarity as Legendary, while the wiki still shows Rare. Search for "Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso)" in the crafting menu and in the item list, not for "Legendary".
Where the schematic drops
You craft the rod from a schematic, and both the wiki and paldb.cc list Advanced Salvage Spots as a source. They both give the chance as 0.235% per successful salvage.
Advanced Salvage Spots sit in high-level waters. Both the wiki and paldb.cc place them around Sakurajima and Feybreak, and the wiki adds the waters near the Astral Mountains.
Pocketpair's 1.0 notes say enemy bases were added at sea. paldb.cc lists the final chests of the desert, snow and volcano sea bases, and some fishing chests, as other sources of this schematic. That is one source only, so treat it as a lead and not a guarantee.
How advanced salvaging works
- Equip a fishing rod. Both sources say you need one in hand.
- Ride a Water-element Pal. The wiki notes that flying Water mounts count as well.
- Keep a Powerful Fishing Magnet in your inventory. Both sources say an advanced salvage uses one up on a successful pull.
- Ride to a salvage spot in the waters above and start the minigame.
paldb.cc adds that advanced spots call for a Powerful Fishing Rod, meaning one of the two Advanced rods. The wiki only says to have a fishing rod equipped. If you own an Advanced rod, use it for advanced spots.
Craft the rod
Keep the schematic in your inventory and it unlocks the recipe. The wiki and paldb.cc both list Paldium Fragments, High Quality Pal Oil, Pal Metal Ingots, Carbon Fiber and Coralum Ingots. They disagree on some amounts and on which production station crafts it, so read the recipe on screen instead of trusting a list.
Pocketpair's 1.0 notes describe Jelliette, Gloopie, Whalaska and Solmora as fishing partners for a fishing build.
On a dedicated server
Everything above is part of the base game, so it needs no mod on your server. The salvage chance is Pocketpair's own, and the World Settings tab has no slider for it. For the drop and gathering rates it does have, see Palworld server settings explained and the World Settings tab.
